The January Banner is completed and up at Heartland Paper in Bountiful, Utah. Each banner is $25.00 and includes everything cut and ready to assemble. It also includes the ribbon. The wood stands are there also for $10 and a kit to finish the wood as shown is an additional $8.

It was great fun putting this together. The title is SHIVER and the snowman was fun to design. It is perfect to brighten up a cold January!!!!

Christmas Banner

I just love how the Christmas Banner turned out!!! I used Authentique Christmas Line. This is a new paper line that is really beautiful. I also added some My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Sticker Sheet and BoBunny Father Christmas buttons - which was ordered to late and they are all gone!!! I am running to all the stores in Salt Lake area trying to find them. So far Heartland Paper has ordered 72 kits so I have been going none stop for days. I just love my Cricut - it is amazing how hard it works for me. I'm not to thrilled with the quality of the Gypsy - so far 2 have broken on me but my Cricut is a work horse. An employee at the store suggested Be Merry and I thought it was a great idea. My scrap book room is an absolute mess but I love creating! I'm so behind on card kits!!!

Thanksgiving Banner

It's Thanksgiving time and "Gobble" is the name of the game! I used the new Imaginisce line which the papers are all embossed. It is a beautiful fall line and I had fun using the paper. I chose a more traditional banner shape and added leaves, a cooking charm, a felt turkey for the "O" and even a small gourd! I have been so busy trying to keep up with the banner demand!

Another Halloween Project

Just finished another class/kit tonight. This was a very simple project that I saw on another blog from last year. I took 9 - 3"x3" canvases and used mod podge to attach newspaper strips that I had ripped in about 1" strips. I took a board about 12 X 12 and painted it black. I then attached the newspaper canvases onto the board with hot glue. Using my Cricut and the Happy Hauntings cartridge (which I absolutely love - well worth the money if you like Halloween) I cut silhouettes out of fuzzy vinyl and regular vinyl and attached to the dry canvases. It was super easy and makes a fun decoration with ribbon and tulle on top!

Retreat kits

This is a fairly simple wall hanging. The idea came from the Paper Creations magazine. I've used lace, beading, buttons, sewing and Stickles on the copy of the vintage postcard. It was easy to make but a bit time consuming with the fan things. (I'm not sure what the official word is). I am offering this as a kit at our retreat for $15.00. If anyone else is interested just email me.

I have to admit, I thought this idea turned out really cute! This is a little lunch pail about 4.5" by 6" and 2.5" deep. The idea is to fill it with treats and as a treat is taken out of the box it is replaced with a written blessing. By the time Thanksgiving rolls around the kids have a great little container filled with things they are grateful for. On the back I wrote this cute little poem: Eat your treat piece by piece, until you dine at the turkey feast. Record your blessings as you go, and gratitude you soon will sow. I wanted to make this a little less expensive so each child in a family could have their own but the cost of the lunch boxes are a bit expensive and difficult to get. I currently have only 5 but I hope to find some more. The cost for this kit is $12.

This is the last kit I did for the retreat. It is a Karen Foster advent calendar that I have decorated up including a button in the middle (day 13) that can be pushed and plays, Santa Claus is coming to town. This is a smaller advent calendar than before so once decorated it is somewhat affordable. The size is smaller though, about 9"x9". It was fun to make and each little drawer opens up to be filled with something special each year. I usually just stay with the traditional red and green Christmas colors but those lines of paper seem to be fairly sophisticated or else the store doesn't have the paper line yet. I hope the teal color won't turn too many people off. I used the new My Mind's Eye Christmas Paper line. The cost for this will be $38.00.

Tonight is my first class back at Heartland for about a year and a half. I am looking forward to it and I'm looking forward to seeing old and new friends!

I have been sooooo busy creating for the store and creating for my upcoming retreat, Sept. 22. We have 28 ladies coming up to Eden and I am so excited to get away to such a beautiful location and spend time with friends again. Last month I put up my School Banner with the apple stands. This month I designed the Halloween banner using the same uprights but instead of apples I designed a witch's hat and boots. Fun, fun, fun! I love designing things for Halloween and Christmas. The kit is currently available at Heartland Paper in Bountiful and is already selling like hotcakes.

Just finished this fun mini album made from white paper bags and Echo Park Summertime Paper and Sticker Sheet. I made it for the store I design for - Heartland Paper in Bountiful, Utah. It was great fun to make and I included a quote on every page about smiles and being happy. I created it for virtually anyone that makes you smile. It would be a great gift!

We had fun this year with our fireworks which included aerials. We were taken for a surprise when the first aerial went off, we didn't expect a real in-the-air type firework! My Grandson enjoyed his first experience with the bright sparks and loud 'pops' but fell asleep in my arms by the end.

I know, I know... these are a little late, but they turned out so cute I just had to share! They would be easy to switch up for the Utah holiday of Pioneer Day coming up this weekend!

Summer Mini-Book

I have spent the last few weeks from sun-up to sun-down working on this mini-book, and I do have to say it turned out to be worth it! It is in kits and will be for sale for only $28.00 which includes all the paper, embellishments, covers, etc. It has holes punched for the binding already. The only things you need are: a tape runner, and glue dots. Some items will require a little trimming too. So basically the work is done for you! Get one quick before they sell out!!

The inside of the card above reads, "Hugs and Kisses this Holiday Season" The print is in red and is on a scalloped white rectangle with enough room to sign your name and write a short message.

The card below is a 5.5" square card and is really beautiful in person. The stamped image is colored in colored pencils and then fine glitter has been applied to Santa's beard and the fur on his hat.

This is a pop up card that I designed. Below is the outside and above is the inside, my card kits have the embossed snowflakes extended to the bottom of the card.

Halloween Here I Come!

The Scrapbook Retreat in Eden, Utah is 1 month away and I have almost finished up my ideas for kits/classes for the gals. This retreat I focused on Halloween and will have two Christmas items. Instead of just doing scrapbook type of things, I have chosen to do all home decor items. It has been a lot of fun and I hope a big success. There are so many different ways to use paper, vinyl, embellishments and the great Cricut. I purchased the Happy Hauntings cartridge and have loved using it.

The first project is a fun mirror I found at Ikea and I embellished it with vinyl for a really fun and different Halloween decoration. The second Halloween item I did was a 13 days of Halloween countdown. I saw this idea in Creating Keepsakes magazine last year and when I found the frame at Ikea I just had to do my own take on it. I took the mirror out of the frame and cut some foam board to fit and then covered it in Burlap (which is so in for home decor right now). I then made 13 different items for 13 days until Halloween. A few of them will fit candy and the rest all have a space (on the back of each item) to write down an activity for the day. I loved how it turned out and it was so fun figuring out different things and then coming up with the numbers.

Christmas in July (or August)

I have been so delinquent! I am so sorry. I have made a number of changes in my life and I'm still trying to figure it all out!

I quit my job at the beginning of July. I still have to teach a couple of classes which I will finish up in a few weeks. Since I quit, I have been traveling with my husband on his business trips which takes me out of town Sunday night thru Thursday. It has been great fun but I realized I am not getting everything done. When I have been home I have been working on my Christmas Craft Workshop items for the end of September. Here are pictures of 2 of the projects I will be teaching. The first is an "Elf in a Box" and the next is a 3 ft. wood Santa holding a chalkboard. They were both fun to work on. I will try to post the other items tomorrow. The Printers Tray from 7 Gypsies turned out especially cute and vintage all the way!

I am so sorry I haven't posted in a while. This has been a busy few weeks. Here are a few of the cards I have made lately. It is fun to make some bright and cheery cards!!! I am working on the Patriotic Book (posted in March, I think) getting the kits ready for classes this week. It ends up I am making 45 which is a nice number to kit, although my husband said last night as he was punching things out for me, please don't do this again!! I think I make about $.10 an hour because I put so much detail in my projects!!!!!! I also had to design 2 items for classes for the next quarter, but I forgot to take pictures before taking them to the store. I will do that soon and show all of you what I have been working on.

A week ago our family traveled to Seattle and we had the chance to take our children around to all of our favorite places and even drove by our first house and apartment. Boy, did the house look small!!! It was only 950 sq. feet but we had put a lot of work into it and really liked it. We also went and stayed out on the Peninsula and had a great time seeing the sights and enjoying the beach. Everyone went clamming one morning and then we enjoyed a very fresh homemade clam chowder. It brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. I loved it!

New Cards

I have been so busy getting ready for the next round of classes that the cards are slower in coming right now. This is a fun, bright birthday card with a great sentiment! Cupcakes are such the rage right now which makes it fun to incorporate them into a card, and who doesn't need birthday cards around!

This other card is also focused on food - ice cream! I just realized I made two food cards - I wonder if I did it subconsciously because I am on a diet right now!! So funny! Oh well, I guess it is better to look at sweets than to eat them! (I am really missing my chocolate!)

My friend Pat and I have also been working on a Christmas Craft Workshop patterned after our Scrapbook Retreats. We are so excited about it and are very busy planning and designing Christmas Crafts for the ladies to do over a 3 day period. It is being held the very end of September (plenty early so if you take home kits you will have time to complete them) and and will be 3 1/2 full days of crafting. I can hardly wait!!!! New Cards - Finally!!

It has been longer than I like between postings, but this last week has been crazy with catch up! Our 2nd scrapbook retreat was last weekend and was a huge success!!! It was so much fun! The food was great (thanks to our trusty chef, Lynn) and the company was incredible. We had great fun at our New Moon night and each had pictures taken with Jacob! We taught many classes and some new techniques. It was a wild and crazy three days that culminated in our first ever auction played with Pat and Teresa money. Fun, fun, fun! Back to the cards. The pictures aren't the best - sorry. I'm suppose to be working on class ideas for the next quarter (July, Aug. Sept.) so I had to get these up fast. The flower pot card was cut from a Silhouette design and turned out really cute for those card people who like to have a "different" shaped card. The flowers pull out of the pot giving you room to write. Fun. I love how the bicycle card turned out. What fun colors I used - they are different for me but I really liked how it turned out. The baby card used some older Martha Stewart felt cut outs I had and then along the bottom I took a piece of Scor Tape and gathered the wide ribbon right onto it. I love Scor Tape!

New Cards and a Giveaway

With the giveaway last week I did not post any new cards so you are getting them all at once! There are a lot of babies being born right now so I had a request for a baby card. I used the new Pitter Patter line from Making Memories.

The next card I used my new stamp from Stampin' Up which says, "May your layers be many and your frosting thick." I just love that line.

And of course, last but not least, is another chocolate card (can you tell I love chocolate-dark). I used my Cricut with my new Sweettreats cartridge which I am using a ton right now and really like it. Didn't the slice of cake turn out cute? The paper is from the ki line. I love the bright colors. Really fun!

I donated a baby card kit to the blog Kangaroo Moms.com for a giveaway. She only has it on until Wednesday (tomorrow), sorry I didn't get the info. on sooner. I have been scrambling to get ready for the big scrapbook retreat this weekend. It will be so fun - I can hardly wait. We have so many fun things planned including a big auction at the end of the weekend for bigger prizes. We made play money and everything - I'm eager to see how it goes, maybe it will become a regular event at our scrapbooking retreats.

Well, as I was busy making a card the other day I was thinking about how much I LOVE my edge punchers and if I love them so much I should give my current favorite one away. On to another item - I just made my first you tube video for my makeathomecards.com site. My husband (who was the cameraman with his Iphone) kept wanting to make it fancy and I kept saying no - I'm a real person with faults and weaknesses. (Yes, I'm heavier than I've ever been) It was exciting and frightening all at the same time. I'm sure my sisters and good friends will get a good laugh - which we all need! I have to admit, I was shocked by how old my hands looked! Better start using all that lotion I have around.

Scrapbook Page for our great retreat!

This is a fun page layout I did for our scrapbook retreat coming up April 22. I haven't scrapbooked any pages for awhile since I have been busy doing cards and classes, but I enjoyed putting this layout together. I like to leave a lot of room for pictures and made sure that the pictures will be the centerpiece of this page. What a nice relaxing Easter weekend. Today I feel like I am off and running! Here are 2 new cards that I made for the store this last week. The birthday candles are a die cut that I have used before - I forgot how much time it takes to cut and piece the candles together for 40 kits!!! I guess I'll never learn. I am always looking for individual, meaningful birthday gifts for friends and designed this cute little chipboard book using a little poem based on a poem titled "Recipe for a Happy Child". I changed the words to read - 1 full cup of friends

2 full cups of family

3 tbsp of wishes

a dash of candles

sprinkled with laughter

topped with love

I used the Maya Road small box with the 2"X3" chipboard book inside. It was a lot of fun to make and I was able to use the new Cosmo Cricket line. It was great fun to make. I am using this for a kit for our Scrapbook Getaway at a cost of $15. A perfect little gift for that great friend or family member. A beautiful day and a fun card

Today is a beautiful day! It is sunny outside and the mountains are crystal clear with snow along to ridge. It is suppose to get up to 50 degrees today - hurray!!! I love the sun and warmth. This last week and weekend was very busy with a lot of company in town. Last week was especially great because my dear friends came into town and we scrapbooked and made cards all week long. This was a card I made for card kits at Heartland Paper and I really liked how it turned out! This cute bunny is a Sizzix die and I cut it out of felt. I love having the ability to cut shapes out of different products - chipboard, fabric, corkboard, paper, it provides such a variety of textures. The inside of the card is blank so it can be used for a birthday card, thank you and Easter. Great card for the grandchildren or friends. Cheerful Cherries

I love how this card turned out! It is so cheery and it was great fun finding this card shape on one of my cricut cartridges. I have made it for my Make At Home card business. This week has been filled with creating with my greatest of friends from California. We have laughed, stayed up late, viewed all of our favorite BBC's, caught up on each other's lives and eaten chocolate. We normally scrapbook at a beach house overlooking the Northern California coastline, but this year with the economy affecting each of our lives we decided to change our venue to my home. There is nothing as great as true friends. They love you despite your weaknesses.

Wedding Card

This is a card that I designed for makeathomecards.com. It has a grouped heart charm and love rhinestone word along with a great ribbon. The black strip of paper and the black circle behind the hearts are embossed with swirls and the pink paper has been punched with a Martha Stewart punch. The base of the card is light pink. I am changing my Make at Home Cards company to more of a pick and choose what 4 cards you would like in your packet. Hopefully this will give people more flexibility.

Birthday Calendar

I have been so busy!!!! I had a scrapbook retreat at my house this last weekend. We had so much fun!! We set up the tables to face the big screen TV and I introduced everyone to North and South (BBC movie - almost as good as Pride and Prejudice), and then we watched Wives and Daughters, the new Emma, Little Dorritt (love it) and of course, P and P, the ultimate girl movie. Immediately afterwards I drove to my parents who are about 5 hours away and spent a couple days with them in the hospital. Their lives are consumed with health issues right now - very stressful.

I made this Happy Birthday Calendar for the Heartland Paper Retreat in Eden, Utah, April 22-25th. We have a few more beds left if you would like to join us!!!! It is $249 with all the food included (we have a great cook coming), sleeping arrangements in some very nice condos, scrapbooking in the clubhouse and lots of fun!!!!!!!!! We will be having a New Moon night with lots of goodies and classes and kits if you desire to buy one. Great fun. We also have another retreat coming up the last weekend in September if you need to save money. It is worth it.

Proud to be an American Mini Book

I always put my pictures in wrong so you see the book backwards! Sorry! This is a mini book I made for this next quarter's class. I think it turned out great and I was able to use my new "A Child's Year" Cricut Cartridge, which was fun. I've only shown about half the book here but this gives a good idea of the style and different shapes of pages. It was great fun to make and it is always fun to work with different sizes and shapes of chipboard which were cut out using our die cut machine at work. The sheet music cover is from an old music book I purchased at our local DI and the papers used on the inside are from The Paper Company patriotic line. I also mixed in a BoBunny dots paper and a sheet of cardstock stickers from Creative Imaginations. For one of the pages I took a chipboard rectangle and painted it with dk. brown, then used the product called Weathered Wood by DecoArt. After letting that dry for an hour I put a top coat of cream colored paint. It really works for this style of mini book. I also used my Sizzix die with the little door flaps. Fun, fun, fun! Anyway, I will be teaching this class in June at Heartland Paper in Utah. Easter Cone

I made this cone a week ago for my next stamping class. I realize this is a stretch for a stamping class but actually we are going to be working with flocking, petal soft, and some Martha Stewart mini beads (I think that's what they are called). I started by making a cone from the new Anna Griffin paper and then I experimented with crepe paper that I bought at the grocery store. I first tried to sew it to get the gathered, overlapping look but found the sewing flattened the paper quite a bit so I used the tried and true Scor-Tape, 1/8" size, (I love this stuff - I have it in every size). I placed the score tape along the top of the cone and then gathered the crepe paper right onto the tape. It worked beautifully. I took all sorts of luscious ribbon (the light blue ribbon over the cream ribbon is brand new from May Arts and is probably my favorite of the bunch) and hung them from the top and then I took flowers from Prima, sprayed them with different Glitter Mists from Maya Road, and then used flocking and the bead for the centers. I then punched out a circle from a sheet of Scor-Tape and took my wide ribbon and started going around in circles with it as I stuck it to the Tape. I then used some light blue Petal Soft in the middle of the ribbon flower. It was great fun. In class we will also be making an Easter Card, a box for chocolates (See's of course) and a gift tag. Such fun!

Mixed Media Girl

I have just finished a mixed media piece that I am going to teach a class on at Heartland Paper in Utah. I love how it turned out and I hope some of those mixed media artists will come and join me and share with me their items. We do not have many mixed media people come into the store but I'm hoping we can attract more artist type people who want to try something a bit more creative. I started with an 11"X17" canvas and painted it with a mix of colors. I then designed dresses and cut them out of the new Quite Contrary Line from Making Memories. I love, love, love this paper. It is bright and cheerful, full of pinks, blues and lime greens. I then pulled out a bunch of embellishments and opened a pack of Making Memories Vintage pieces (this was the mini kit girl) and started embellishing and adding ribbons and buttons and all sorts of small pieces. I cut out background pieces with my Storybook Cricut Cartridge and started layering. I used Mod Podge for the background papers and the ric rac ribbon around the edges and used Scor-Tape, Glue Dots and Foam Dots for the rest. It was great fun!!! This class will cost $30 and can be mailed as a kit with pictures and instructions. Here are two cards I designed for Heartland Paper. The first one is a favorite type of card for me. It is a 4"X12" strip that has been scored at 2" and 7 1/2" and folded to create a 3 part fold. There is so much you can do with this shape. I love it and use it often. This is new paper from Imaginisce and I love the bright colors and the bit of glitter that is added. It is so cheerful on such a rainy day as today. Where has all the snow gone? We haven't hardly had any January or February which makes it tough for my son-in-law who started a snow removal business this winter while finishing up college. Oh well, this card would cheer up anyone!

The next card is of course for St. Patrick's Day. A few hearts cut from the Cricut and an expensive stamp from Studio G and an easy card is born. I also used an edge punch which I think fits perfectly for this card. The paper is Best Creations.

This week has been busy with visiting the new grandchild and getting ready for next quarter classes at Heartland. I will post again later today with one of my classes I will be doing.

I am a new GRANDMA!!!!

I am so moved! My first grandchild was born this morning about 10:30 am. He is the most precious baby ever! I am so excited to be a grandmother. My daughter-in-law is incredible and delivered the baby quickly and efficiently! What a wonderful day. I haven't heard Corbin cry yet but he is absolutely beautiful. He is a miracle baby - my son had cancer at the age of 18 and because of the strong doses of chemo he was not suppose to be able to have children, luckily his beautiful wife was willing to take a chance and a year and a half after their marriage they have a beautiful little baby boy, Corbin. They are an incredible couple who have been so blessed in so many ways. As a parent and grandparent I could not be prouder. The happy parents, a proud grandpa and my youngest, beautiful daughter, Brittany and myself holding the precious child. A simply wonderful day!!!

Men and Stamping

This morning was VERY interesting. I taught an embossing class this morning which involved 4 projects, two of which are in the pictures above. Yesterday the manager informed me that Studio 5 (a local TV show) was coming to my Stamping class and that they were bringing 2 local radio personalities from the Night Side Show on KSL in Salt Lake City. The TV show is focusing on starting new hobbies this month and thought it would be fun to have the radio guys try out some new "woman type" hobbies. Well, it was a hoot and the guys really had fun with the whole thing. They brought "guy" treats - Cheese Whiz in a can, crackers and a Salami Roll. The guys tried their best at each of the products, and one of them even tried to add his bit of creativity, although I have to admit his box (see above) was quite hilarious. The paper he wrapped around the box was VERY crooked and provided us all with a good laugh. It was interesting trying to teach and demonstrate something to people who are not familiar in the least with glue dots, tape runners and foam dots. I felt like I was back in kindergarten for scrapbookers!!! I have to admit though they did pretty good with a glue stick although I think they used one whole stick just putting the paper on the box. The other women in the class were so helpful and they were eager to show them how to use all of the products that we take for granted. When I find out when the show is going to air, I will post it and we will all watch it together. (Of course you have to understand I had a one day notice on this so I wasn't able to lose 20 pounds in time!) I'm also eager to see what they have to say about us tonight at 7 pm on their radio show.

Anyway, I love how the hanging turned out above. It is so fun to use all those embellishments that sit in my drawer. I have to say I love the Big Shot by Sizzix because it can cut chipboard and felt which brings so much texture and dimension to a flat object such as paper.

The little box is just one I picked up at Roberts and decorated it and changed out the twine handle for a beautiful ribbon. There are so many possibilities for these boxes - perfect for treats and little things for friends and neighbors. They would look great painted, covered with paper and even some Maya Mist on them would be fun. I just used the plain box since it was for a stamping class. The vintage picture on the tag came from Graphic Fairy, a great blog where you can download vintage images and use them.

Well, I have one more stamping class tonight and then I will start work on next month's projects which will be fun Easter items. Have a great day and maybe if I'm lucky I will become the next Martha after making my debut TV appearance!!

A Valentine's Day Card and a Wedding

Being new at blogging, I am finding it difficult to

get good pictures and to figure out the layouts of the posts. I am glad I joined up with One World One Heart so I have the chance to see so many other bloggers and how they are doing with their blogs. There are so many creative people out there - it is so fun!

My vintage wedding card is so cute but it is very difficult to get the colors right - it is made with the new Graphic 45 Romantic line. I love the teal and peach colors.

The Valentine's Card was so fun to make. I found these heart shaped lollipops and thought it would be so much fun to put them on a card to give to a grandchild or your own children. There's nothing like candy for a sweet tooth!!!! (Chocolate is my personal favorite!)

Catch up time!!

I have been delinquent! After returning home from a great river cruise through Germany the first week of December, I felt a little panic getting ready for Christmas. This Christmas was special because we were able to have all of our children and spouses home for a week. We planned many fun things including a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and thoroughly enjoyed each others company.

On Jan. 4th, my sister-in-law went into the hospital for a stem cell transplant and I made daily trips to the hospital to spend time with her and to keep her walking the halls! She made it through the procedure incredibly well and was out of the hospital 2 1/2 weeks later. She is such a trooper! Since that time I have been going up to West Haven (west of Ogden) to help with her care. She is doing so well and hopefully this will prevent further chemo treatments for multiple myeloma for years. Cancer just seems to be so prevalent. Having had a son go through cancer I was sympathetic to some of the things she has gone through. She is amazing and so strong. She hopes to live at least another 15 years so she can watch her grandchildren grow and hopefully see a few more brought to this earth.

Here are two Valentine cards and a thank you card to start off this New Year. My son, Brandon, is also helping me to start a monthly card kit that will have everything to make 4 different cards including envelopes and pictures of completed cards. All that will be required by the customer will be ink for distressing, adhesive, glue dots and foam dots. What a great way to show your love to others!!! Hopefully the first 4 will be posted in the next day. (I wish I was better at this computer stuff!)

Christmas in Germany

After almost 2 years of waiting, my mom and I are finally on our Christmas Market River Cruise through Germany. We are having a great time!! We are truly 2 Christmas shoppers at heart.

After flying and enduring transfers we finally arrived in Cologne, Germany after 19 hours. We immediately went to our first Christmas market in Cologne. The picture of my mom (in the green jacket) is standing in front of one of the streets with these temporary buildings that are decorated for Christmas. At night (it gets dark at 4:30 pm) everything lights up and all the people come out to enjoy the atmosphere and the food that is available at about 2/3 of the booths. The food for them is probably similar to fair food for us. Every few steps there is a booth with hot liquor and they serve it in ceramic mugs that you pay a deposit on and the deposit gets returned when the mug is returned. They stand around these logs that are stood up on their ends with lights wired in the middle of the logs. It is really interesting. They have all sorts of handicrafts, items from China, and a few booths with Christmas decorations. They have fun Christmas foods and candies and gingerbread is big here. I purchased a number of food items for our Christmas eve feast. Wood carvers are big here and the picture of the man with the carved items in front of him is the actual wood carver that I purchased a beautiful Madonna and child from.

The ship is sailing down the Rhine and will end in Basel, Switzerland. The cruise is about 8 days long and makes stops through Germany, Strausborg, France, and Basel Switzerland. We are interested in seeing if the Christmas markets are any different in France and Switzerland. I am having fun buying gifts for the children and of course a few special items for myself.

I am sorry I haven't posted cards lately, I was so busy getting ready to leave on this trip and with Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with most of our family (Brandon and Rachel were in Kansas City with her family) and everyone helped with the Christmas decorations on Friday. I wanted to get the majority of them up before I left. I will be home Monday night and I hope to get some more cards up then along with some more pictures of our trip.

Here is another card I have been thinking about a lot, finally I made it and I feel it turned out really cute. Cardinals seem to be in this Christmas and I particularly liked this paper. The card is plain inside. I am not selling these at the store, so if you would like some please email me and I will let you know the price structure.

I am getting ready to leave for a monthly work meeting and I noticed the weather is starting to change. It has been beautiful for about a week and a half with sun and 65 degree weather. The leaves are absolutely beautiful. I think we are looking at snow later this week - good for my son-in-law who is starting a snow removal business but not so much fun for the rest of us.

This last weekend was busy, we had family from Houston in town to see the BYU modern dance company perform. Of course, the best dancer ever is my niece from Houston and it was great fun watching her perform and I truly think she was the best dancer out there and for a sophomore that is really saying something!!

This weekend we are off to Santa Fe, New Mexico for the BYU football game and we are taking my daughter and her husband with us to visit all the art sites - it is a really strong art hub and my daughter being an artist, it gives her an opportunity to visit.

Well, off to my meeting - have a nice evening.

Birthdays during the holidays

Just a quick picture of the birthday card I made for the store which will be out on Thursday. I used the new Basic Gray line and for the first time used a Basic Gray Doilie which I thought worked really well on this card. I don't love the cupcake paper but it is the cutest that we have right now and it's new, new, new. The Basic Gray Doilies are beautiful but are expensive. This Doilie worked well because it was horizontal not the all over scrolls or flowers which are difficult to use on a card. If you want a card pack held for you give the store a call at 801-294-7172. Off to work - not my normal day but I am filling in for a mom that is on a field trip.

Christmas Cards

I can't believe Christmas is already upon us! In the crafting world, Christmas has passed and we are now working on Valentine's crafts. My mind has been racing thinking about the new year and the classes I need to have ready.

I have been disappointed in the Christmas paper selection this year. The blues and pinks and lime green are all the rage except in my experience dealing with customers all they want are traditional colors. Our homes are generally decorated in traditional colors along with Christmas outfits for pictures. Graphic 45 has used the more traditional colors and this is some paper from their Christmas line. I love the vintage look of the paper. It is easy to use and we can't seem to keep it in stock at the Heartland Paper. On this card I embossed a great red and then used some older Making Memories ribbon and as you notice I used a border punch - Love those Border Punches!!!! The sentiment is stamped. I love Christmas!

Busy Day at the Store

Today was a work day at Heartland Paper. I spent the day putting Halloween paper in the holiday area and moving fall paper to the front of the store. This year not very many companies came out with Thanksgiving type paper. Many people are looking for fall/Thanksgiving paper and there just isn't much out there. I spent the evening making 30 Harvest Blessing Kits for the store. It is a nice way to make a little extra money.

I have cards to make for the store and am very eager to work on Edward cards and my Twilight Christmas cards. They are going to be FUNNY - I'm looking forward to the response I get from the Twilight fans out there.

Someone asked me if I would talk about my scrapbook retreat that my friend Pat and I do. We had our first scrapbook retreat this last September and it was a HUGE hit. We had so much fun with our 30 ladies in attendance that we have decided to do more. I love entertaining and my passion is papercrafting so it was a great combination of fun. We had a couple classes and provided all of our equipment and taught whoever wanted to learn, how to use them. We have a Cricut (with many cartridges), a Silhouette (a digital cutter that cuts from your computer), the Big Shot (my new best friend for embossing and cutting chipboard and felt shapes - love it, love it, love it) and other doodads. We had a Twilight night which was a hoot - we all had pictures with a life size Edward, Twilight snacks, drinks and a free card and page kit to remember the evening by. We had great food - we had our very own cook who did a fabulous job with wonderful desserts every night. Of course, I baked my famous chocolate chip cookies at 3 pm everyday. It was great fun. Oh, how could I forget, we had a masseuse come and those who wanted to take advantage of that service could. We are having another retreat April 22-25, 2010 in Eden, Utah. The accommodations are top notch and the scrapbooking is superb. We are doing a much smaller, more intimate retreat at my house in Bountiful, Feb. 25-27, 2010. I have a beautiful home with a beautiful view and great Jane Austin movies!!!!! The two retreats are filling fast so if you like to plan ahead we will be having another big retreat in Eden, September 23-26 which we will start taking reservations for around May 1st. New Moon Jacob Cards

I finished the 4 pack for those people who love Jacob. Jacob is the werewolf in the Twilight series. Three of the 4 cards are based off of quotes from the New Moon movie. The 4th is just a general Jacob card. In the next week I will be working on the Edward cards and some Christmas cards for an Edward fan. If you know any Twilight lovers, these are the perfect cards to give them for various occasions. If you would like to order any, email me. Christmas is coming fast and furious. I can't believe Halloween is over and we are now into Christmas. It was fun to see the trick or treaters and it was great that they all seemed to like the sour Skittles that we handed out. This is my first Christmas card for the season for Heartland Paper. I put them out yesterday and am eager to see the response. I used the new "Zing" silver embossing powder after stamping the angel with a silver ink pad. The printed paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle which I feel really lends a feel of elegance. I am looking forward to making more Christmas cards - I love this time of the year!

The beginning of a new season

Today is the start of a new season in my life. I am a new "empty-nester" and have decided to post the cards I make and currently sell through Heartland Paper, in Bountiful. I would like to branch out and begin to sell my cards through this blog to family, friends and others. If you would like to order any kits, just email me or make a comment on the blog and I will respond via email.

This first card is a Happy Thanksgiving card made out of Kraft paper. I have embossed it with an embossing folder and then decorated a tag with lace, ribbon and a stamped sentiment. I found this stamp last year and love it. I love the flourishes incorporated in the wording. I have really gotten into stamped sentiments this last year and enjoy the flexibility they provide.

Since I am new at blogging, I hope to refine my style as I go along and have determined it is more important to get my cards out there and worry about the rest of it later. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me!!
